Mr Eric Chan Cho-biu

Personal Profile

A seasoned practitioner in the media and publishing industry, Mr Eric Chan Cho-biu has been working in the field for over 30 years and had served RTHK and Hong Kong Economic Journal. In 1988, he joined Hong Kong Economic Times and had been the group’s Associate Publisher and Chief Editor. At present, he is Senior Editorial Adviser of the group and continues to contribute to society through public services in various organisations. He is Chairman of Hong Kong Journalism Education Foundation, Director of Hong Kong News-Expo, Member of Executive Committee of Hong Kong News Executive's Association, and Member of the Sub-committee on Access to Information of Law Reform Commission.
Mr Chan graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree and a Diploma in Education. He has been passionate about his old school and served as Member of Board of Trustees of Chung Chi College and now is Director of Alumni Association of Chung Chi College.

Expectation towards Social Innovation and the SIE Fund

"Learn from the experience and wisdom around the world, combine with Hong Kong local conditions and put forward projects with innovative ideas and approaches which will contribute to alleviation, eradication and prevention of poverty effectively.
Besides, I hope that the work of the task force could enable the beneficiaries, as individuals or groups, moving from being helped by others to self-reliance, and eventually helping others in need actively, whereby cultivating the spirits of mutual help and support in our social culture."
