Train the Trainers: Minority Girls and Gender Justice

The project seeks to empower young Muslim women and combat stereotypes against non-ethnic Chinese women. Training will be given to the women so that they can reach out to the local communities to talk about gender equality.

Impact / Expected Impact

The project seeks to establish the connection between young Muslim women (mainly age 16-25) and the local women’s groups, and strengthen the engagement through different collaborative programmes. Also, it provides a safe space for young Muslim women to explore different gender issues (such as women and work, arranged marriages, gender stereotypes, equal opportunities for the sexes). These explorations could bring in different perspectives among Muslim young women and they could discuss among themselves to widen their perspectives. Also, the project would bring in different stakeholders, including the non-ethnic Chinese parents and the religious leaders, to engage in direct dialogues, in order to facilitate communication, and to tackle public stereotype on minority females which subsequently increase non-ethnic Chinese females’ social integration.
