Mindfulness-based Stigma Stress Reduction Programme for Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorders and their Parents

This project aims to develop an internet-based mindfulness intervention for reducing stigma stress among children with neurodevelopmental disorders and their parents. Beneficiaries can reduce emotional distress by practising self-acceptance and self-compassion instead of self-blame and self-shame in the program.

Impact / Expected Impact

This project aims to develop an internet-based mindfulness intervention for reducing stigma stress among children with neurodevelopmental disorders and their parents. Beneficiaries can reduce emotional distress by practising self-acceptance and self-compassion instead of self-blame and self-shame in the program. The effectiveness of the intervention in terms of stigma stress reduction, wellbeing and functioning improvement will be examined. It is expected that different groups of stigmatised social minorities can also be benefited from the development of the intervention.
