Impact / Expected Impact

The stay-home mothers will be equipped with the fundamental knowledge and necessary skills for them to practice pediatric massage techniques in on-site training. It is expected that the stay-home mothers will have an increase in self-esteem and self-efficacy. Some mothers may enter the job market half a year after completion of this project. Also, children with autism receiving the pediatric massage will have an improvement in physical, social and cognitive well-being. The team will wrap up the training procedures and write up a teaching manual for the public. The manual can arouse the awareness of home-based and affordable intervention for children with autism. It can also teach the public how to care for their children with autism at home.
