Promoting social inclusion of children and youngsters from different walks of life through peer tutoring and support

  

 

The venture targets to enhance the English proficiency of underprivileged students and promote social inclusion of children and youngsters from different walks of life through peer tutoring and support with the aid of a digital platform.

The project team will recruit Primary 3 to 6 students in Sham Shui Po District as tutees. Year 7 to 13 (UK education system) /Grade 6 to 12 (American or Canadian system) students of international schools will join as peer tutors and enjoy the opportunities of service-learning. Each tutee will attend English workshops totalling 10 hours conducted by peer tutors via an online platform. The project team will provide training to peer tutors and closely monitor their teaching plans/teaching materials as well as the online workshops.

The international school students will pay a participating fee for the service-learning opportunities while grassroots students will enjoy the programme for free.

  • Completed the preparation of assessment tools and teaching materials
  • Recruited 260 tutees and provided 520 sessions of 1-on-1 progress assessment to the tutees
  • Recruited 131 tutors and provided 36 sessions of programme orientation and training to them
  • Organised 588 online English workshops between tutors and tutees
  • Organised 2 English Fun Days for 82 participants, 1 Reflection Session for 19 participants, 3 Experience Sharing Webinars for 38 participants and 1 visit to Changing Young Life Foundation Learning Centre for 20 participants
