There are 450,000 ethnic minorities living in Hong Kong. Some of them can speak neither Cantonese nor English and therefore encounter many problems in daily lives.  To help these people better integrate into society, HKSKH Lady MacLehose Centre founded the Hong Kong TransLingual Services (HKTS) in 2010, providing diversified interpretation and translation services, as well as creating job opportunities for different ethnic groups.
Hong Kong TransLingual Services now has a team of 80 interpreters, with most of them attained at least a higher diploma in education level. The team is capable of providing translation services for nearly 20 languages. Clients can choose among on-site, telephone or video-conferencing interpretation services depending on their needs. And in case of emergencies, interpreters will be able to provide on-site assistance within two hours. Due to a huge demand for South Asian language translation services, HKTS has been able to make a profit since its opening. Now it takes more than 400 orders a month and a large part of them comes from the Hospital Authority.

To enhance their services, HKTS spends part of its revenue in staff training. It also joins hand with the Centre for Translation of the Hong Kong Baptist University to provide training course for medical interpreter trainers. In 2013 HKTS extended its services to include sign language.
