Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund was officially launched at the Commission on Poverty Summit. The launch ceremony was officiated by Chief Executive Mr C Y Leung, Chief Secretary for Administration Mrs Carrie Lam, SIEDF Task Force Chairperson Professor Stephen Cheung and Vice-chairperson Dr Joseph Lee.

Members of the Commission on Poverty and the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund Task Force visited one of the 'Light Home' flats in Sheung Wan. An introduction to the project was made by the founder and CEO of Light Be, Mr Ricky Yu, Chairman, Mr Laurence Lee, founder and CEO of supporting organisation Social Venture Hong Kong, Mr Francis Ngai, together with representative from the RS Group.
Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund Task Force Secretariat conducted a non-committal market sounding exercise to gather information on market capabilities, interests and preferences from interested parties. It would provide crucial information for the Task Force to shape the directions and arrangement in engaging intermediaries. A total of 50 proposals were received.
