Training programme in distance running for youth to improve physical and mental health as well as to explore a career in the field
Riding on the success of the project “Youth.ROC” in 2016 supported by the SIE Fund, RunOurCity Foundation Limited is taking forward a new project which provides a three-year all-rounded distance running and youth development programme to improve the physical and mental health of young people, as well as to offer coach training and job opportunities to them.
A training programme for primary and secondary school students will be provided. It includes training in distance running, character-building activities, personal coaching, coaching skills, and coach practising opportunities. The programme comprises components in four levels:
- Youth.ONE Fundamental Training offers a 3-month running programme. At the end of the training, the participants will be able to complete a 10km run.
- Youth.ONE Club provides a 12-month running training covering five different areas of activities.
- Youth.ONE Leadership/Assistant Coach is a 6 to 12 months' leadership or assistant coach training programme.
- Youth.ONE Project Executive/Coach offers a 6 to 12 months' training on project management, coaching, problem-solving and communication skills.

Impact/Outcomes
- Recruited 934 students from 28 schools/NGOs. Of the participating students, 492 were from underprivileged backgrounds
- Conducted different levels of training, including:
- 655 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Freshman” programme
- 270 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Ranger” programme
- 152 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Challenger” programme
- 46 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Helper” programme
- 17 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Leader” programme
- 9 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Assistant Coach” programme
- 6 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Coach” programme
- 16 students have commenced the “Youth.ONE Project Executive” programme - Provided 735 personal coaching sessions
- Engaged 51 coaches as trainers
