A language learning application to help non-Chinese speaking primary students learn Chinese in an interactive way

 

The venture aims to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI) language learning application to assist non-Chinese speaking primary students to learn Chinese through listening, speaking, reading and writing in an interactive approach. The application will consolidate 150 most commonly used Chinese characters in primary schools. Support for individual students will be provided according to their learning paces.

Training workshops will be held to help students, parents and teachers learn the application and follow up with the students’ learning progress.

Impact/Outcomes

  • Developed an AI Chinese character writing game app with 200 Chinese characters commonly used in primary schools
  • 137 students from diverse race/local students from primary schools enrolled the programme.  Of which, 19 students received learning training (with the app) and Chinese character test to monitor their learning progress
  • Engaged three schools/organisations to take part in product trial
  • Produced a video to provide instruction training to two teachers and almost 140 parents
