Personal Profile
Mr Michael Tien is a member of the Legislative Council (New Territories West), a Hong Kong Deputy to the National People's Congress and Deputy Chair of New People's Party. He is the founder of G2000 Group and Supervisor of HKMA David Li Kwok Po College. He was the Chairman of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research and Employees Retraining Board, in addition to his role as a member of the Education Commission. Mr Tien received an MBA Degree from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
Expectation towards Social Innovation and the SIE Fund
"People may have misunderstanding about seeking government funding. Many think that there are a lot of restrictive terms and conditions. The SIE Fund is in fact innovative and allowing greater flexibility in terms of its mode of operation. It is hoped that the SIE Fund will disprove the misperception. Meanwhile, we welcome individuals and organisations with the will and innovative ideas to address HK's poverty problem to approach us and to learn more about the Fund."
