Timothy Ma

A social worker by training, Timothy Ma has always been concerned about the needs of elderly people. In 1996, he joined the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association (SCHSH) as its first Executive Director after a prolonged cold spell that took the lives of over one hundred elderly people. He started and developed the 24-hour Personal Emergency Link Service from scratch and helped the service achieve self-financing in its 5th year. Now, the service has reached more than two hundred thousand people and the business model is being adopted in a number of Mainland cities.
Timothy joined the City University of Hong Kong to lead Project Flame in 2012. Being actively involved in social entrepreneurship education, he has been promoting social innovation to different sectors and helping groom the next generation of social entrepreneurs.
