Providing music therapy and educational services to children with special educational needs from low-income families
Using different musical tools and instruments, the venture provides online and offline music therapy and educational services to children with special educational needs (SEN) from low-income families.
A hundred SEN children aged between three and eight years old from low-income families will be recruited to join a one-year course. After face-to-face evaluation by a registered music therapist, each of the SEN children will be provided with a free music tool box comprising learning materials and curated musical instruments.
Children joining the course will learn to play specific musical instruments via online means. It is expected that their emotional expression, language and speech, hand-eye coordination, etc. would be strengthened. Twenty out of the 100 children who show musical talent will be selected to receive extra three-month offline training, after which they will perform in a public concert with mainstream students.
Regular follow-up and post-learning evaluation will be conducted by the therapists via online or offline means. In addition, monthly virtual music workshops will be arranged for the children’s parents or caregivers to reduce their stress.
