Puppet Connection: You Are Not Alone

education and learning, low-income families, Impact Innovation Lab

Offering puppetry experiential workshops to promote the deployment of puppetry as a medium in communication with SEN children to alleviate the stress of caregivers and boost the confidence of SEN children

The venture aims at supporting underprivileged children with special educational needs (SEN) by offering workshops in dual mode, enhancing caregivers’ mental health by providing the “parent support groups”. Caregivers will be equipped with puppet operations and communication skills through “puppetry communication” experiential workshops and will practice with their children at home, boosting their confidence and skills in parenting. The “safe distance” feature of puppetry allows children to feel safer when interacting with their parents, reducing the pressure of direct interpersonal communication. Through puppet interaction, simulated social scenarios are provided to help children learn essential social skills, and ultimately enhance the mental well-being and confidence of both.
