Tailor-made supportive services in parenting for deaf parents

  

The venture aims to assist deaf parents in identifying and overcoming challenges related to parenting through tailor-made supportive services, including training workshops and counselling services, designed by professional social workers.

The project team is formed by children of deaf parents. Team members have first-hand experience in growing up in deaf families and thus have a good understanding of the needs of these families.

Milestones/Progress

As at December 2023:

  • Provided training and supporting services to 102 deaf parents and their children and their caregiving families, including -
    - organising 103 educational workshops;
    - providing 193 sessions of coaching, counseling and care services;
    - organising 29 parent mutual support groups;
    - offering 78 SEN training/playgroups and 3 464 SEN tutoring hours;
    - organising 26 community programmes/festival celebration activities; and
    - offering 980 hours of sign language interpretation service
