Mobile applications that bring convenience to visually impaired persons

For visually impaired persons (VIPs), their disability means not only inconvenience in daily life but also the barrier to integration into the community and a small social circle.
To help VIPs overcome the barrier, this team has developed a series of mobile applications. i-Money is an app for identifying different bank notes; i-Menu presents menus of participating restaurants to assist VIPs in placing orders; i-News enables VIPs to gain access to latest news information. The team is exploring addition functions for the apps which include identifying banknotes of other currencies and even other objects.
It is hoped that with the aid of the apps VIPs will be able to enjoy equal opportunities in an inclusive society.
