Social Innovation Carnival held to showcase
SIE Fund's 10 years of achievements
As the highlight of the promotional activities celebrating the 10th anniversary of the SIE Fund, the Social Innovation Carnival was held at the Central Market from 24 to 26, November 2023, with the theme of "Innovate to Create Impact for Poverty Alleviation". The carnival featured about 20 booths, showcasing innovative products, services and solutions that address social needs. Workshops were also held to let the public gain first-hand experience to understand how social innovation helps the needy.
Attending the carnival and officiating at the SIE Fund 10th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony on 25 November, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki, pointed out that the Fund’s achievements have been well recognised, including having supported more than 500 social innovation projects to address the needs of various grassroots groups while strengthening the work of poverty alleviation in Hong Kong. Other officiating guests at the ceremony included the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong; the Chairperson of the SIE Fund Task Force, Dr Jane Lee; the Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Ho Kai-ming; the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Sze Chun-fai; and the Commissioner for Efficiency and Secretary-General of the SIE Fund Task Force Secretariat, Miss Patricia So.
A roving exhibition was also held on the second floor of the Central Market from 24 to 30 November, with its focus on featuring the intermediaries' innovative programmes, flagship projects, and other major initiatives, in addition to displaying real-life products or models of some of the innovative projects.
