Engaging the Third Batch of Intermediaries

The SIE Fund has engaged intermediaries as strategic partners to design and deliver funding and incubation programmes to meet the needs of the social innovation space. To this end, two batches of intermediaries were engaged in 2015 and 2020 to design and deliver innovative programmes.

Services of the batch of intermediaries engaged by the SIE Fund in 2020 are due to expire and it is planned to appoint the third batch of intermediaries in the latter half of 2022 to sustain the momentum successfully created within the social innovation space and facilitate further development and enhancement of the ecosystem. The SIE Fund announced in early June 2022 the invitation of proposals from interested parties to apply for the role of intermediaries for designing and administering innovative programmes to support social innovators or ventures of different forms and at different stages of development. Proposals from entities established in Hong Kong which share the Fund’s objective of nurturing social innovation and social entrepreneurship for alleviation and prevention of poverty, prevention of social exclusion, enhancement of overall well-being of beneficiaries and facilitation of social cohesion were welcome. Details about the scope of intermediary services, the eligibility and submission requirements, the assessment process and selection criteria as well as key engagement terms can be found in the invitation brief and presentation materials and video recording of the briefing session.

The submission of proposals was closed on 4 August 2022 and the proposal assessment process is underway. The goal is to complete the process duly with the suitable intermediaries appointed to start the new round of innovative programmes to provide support for more social innovators and innovative projects, thereby fostering the continuous development of the social innovation ecosystem.
