Publishing story books for social workers and clinical psychologists to identify and help vulnerable children traumatized by family crisis

Children are most vulnerable to family crisis and domestic violence. Yet they often don’t know how to express their frustration to seek assistance timely. This venture will develop an intervention tool in the form of a series of story books with the main character Butter Buddy to identify and help children in need of assistance. The contents of these story books will be set in a local context (i.e. local home setting and usual family structure) which the children are familiar with. While reading through the purposely designed contents, which mimic real cases of family problems, children will be able to acknowledge the emotional pain and learn to seek necessary support. Parents can also understand their children’s needs through interaction in the reading process.

Revenue will be generated from sales of story books. A series of more general topics will be developed for common families to build closer bonds.

The venture has received funding support from the SIE Fund for another prototype project.
